Some stuff I loved in the 90’s (from the 80’s) – for AJ

Quick AsideHere are a bunch of bookmarks I’ve collected that may interest you…. MANY have suffered from Link Rot now 🙁

Mate,

The band I was telling you about on the phone today, that I interviewed on RPP back in the 90’s, have been yapping with me on Facebook about AUSTECH, Atari 1040ST’s and Notator. Turns out they are Eastern suburbs guys – Croydon and Wantirna. If you click on the Studio Photo (click the previous link then the subsequent photo) you’ll be able to read our chat comments….

The album they made (their debut) that really got my attention was “Don’t Bring the Rain” – the band was Aragon. They played Montsalvat but I didn’t know and missed the gig.

Some tracks are your taste, some not so much. Some energy and some peace.

I’d love you to listen to a bit of it, and look at the liner notes HERE if you get chance. I’ve noted below the tracks I reckon you may find interesting.

What’s been happening. . . (Mainstage / Kontakt / Chisel)

Work – and more work.

This is GOOD!  (I’ve also been enjoying local bands.)

But it has left a big gap in making patches and posting things.  In spare time I’ve been working on a “Bow River” keyboards video for a couple of people, and had a blast with Mainstage and the Prominy CP80 (Kontakt sampler instrument) creating the Chisel LIVE ambience. If you like Chisel, and have the CP80/Mainstage combo let me know in the contact form and I’ll shoot it to you as a freebie. The video will happen, but preparing for it is too much fun!

Thank you!

I just want to say huge thank you to everyone who has spent a few dollars on some of the patches that are available on our website.

In the coming weeks I am very keen to try creating some sounds from Supertramp, Asia, Led Zeppelin and possibly The Beatles using mostly Arturia instruments but perhaps a bit of Kontakt as well. Work and life have had a tendency to curtail some of my music activity lately.

The money that has come into the site was put towards new software which I expect will help to create new offerings. Everyone who contributes has helped me and I’m very grateful for your trust and support.

Kick goals with your musicmaking!

Bloody software updates!

I thought it was strange. Just didn’t seem quite right. Not a Happy Neil!

That’s how I felt after spending hours (days) trying to get just the sound I wanted with Mini V, being totally happy with it and then doing a software upgrade.

Bloody software upgrades. It’s not the developers fault. They do the best that they can and at least in this case they put the risks in black-and-white.

So this is how the story goes. Continue reading “Bloody software updates!”
